Lauren Beukes is a South African author known for her genre-bending fiction that blends speculative elements with sharp social commentary. Born in Johannesburg in 1976, she gained international acclaim with her 2013 novel The Shining Girls, a time-travel thriller about a serial killer and the woman who survives him.
