About Finbarre Snarey

I’m Finbarre Snarey, host and producer of Tarot Interviews - the first podcast in the world to interview creative people using tarot cards as prompts.

Both Tarot Interviews and my text-based sister project, Tarot DMs, explore how creative work actually gets made: the truimphs, the disasters, the grand plans and the improvisions that don't make it into press releases.

Research, Heritage, and the Archive

My wider work encompasses research, public scholarship, and heritage activity. Together with the podcast, these initiatives form a broad arts and culture project dedicated to how tarot is used, discussed, preserved, and reimagined today.

  • Academic & Public Scholarship: In 2026, I presented a paper connected to Rider Waite Smith tarot reading practice in the UK at Tarot Cultures, the Goldsmiths conference on tarot studies.

  • Living Heritage: I am actively involved in work around tarot as living heritage, including the UK Living Heritage Inventory submission for Rider Waite Smith Tarot Reading Practice in the UK.

  • The British Tarot Archive: This sits alongside my ongoing work developing the British Tarot Archive, a project that collects, documents, and contextualises tarot material with long-term cultural and research value.

Reach, Listenership & Impact

Since launching in 2025, Tarot Interviews has grown from an independent audio series into a multifaceted arts operation.

  • Global Audience: The show has reached listeners in 55 countries. The largest audiences are based in the United States and the United Kingdom, followed by listeners across Europe, Oceania, Asia, and South America.

  • Top-Tier Rankings: Based on Buzzsprout benchmark data from Season One, Tarot Interviews ranked in the top 10% of global podcasts by episode count, and the top 35% of global podcasts by downloads.

  • Cross-Platform Appeal: Most listening happens on mobile, with a strong, healthy mix across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, web browsers, iPhone, and Android devices giving the show an audience that isn't dependent on a single app.

  • Milestone Guests & Features: Across Tarot Interviews and Tarot DMs, we have published 50+ features and welcomed recognised guests including Joanne Harris, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Lucy Rose, Lauren Beukes, Julian Simpson, and Sacha Coward.

  • Community Support & Preservation: The project has generated approximately $1,000 in physical and financial donations, and is building long-term archive value through tarot deck acquisitions connected to the British Tarot Archive.
